Are you using ubuntu 9.10 (karmic)?
What is happening there is due to some problems in your opencv installation or due to problems with your image files.
You can check this by looking at a file that is generated on
/tmp/harpiaBETMP**lots-of-numbers/harpiaBETMP**that-lot-of-numbers**.c which *should* be a completely valid opencv program.
