Confirming, I was able to reproduce this issue.

Still an issue with gufw 0.20.1_beta2.

How is run Gufw?
With this? ProcCmdline: python /usr/share/gufw/gufw.py
Gufw need preserve the user environment with:
gksudo --preserve-env /usr/share/gufw/gufw.py
Can be this the problem?

sudo /usr/share/gufw/gufw.py
The crash does not occur.

gksudo /usr/share/gufw/gufw.py
The autostart box is greyed out.

gksudo --preserve-env /usr/share/gufw/gufw.py
The crash occurs.

gksudo --preserve-env --description /usr/share/applications/gufw.desktop /usr/share/gufw/gufw.py
This is the command executed in the gufw.desktop file in which the crash occurs.

Can you check it with the .deb 0.20.1 beta 2 reproduce the bug?

I currently have gufw 0.20.1_beta2 installed (which I did the testing on in my previous comment). When I previously had gufw 0.20.0-0ubuntu2 installed, I also got the crash via the menu.

Bug is fixed with gufw 0.20.1, thanks for your great work. Milestoning for Intrepid beta so the upload isn't forgotten.

I notice that my preferences had been reset, but that's not a big deal.
