I've tried Glipper, Parcellite and Desktop Data Manager. In my opinion Glipper and Percellite just don't work. Both of them only support text, I've had problems with these applications not starting when booting the system, after installing these applications the copy / paste function of OpenOffice.org stopped working properly.
I'm using Desktop Data Manager for months now and I haven't had any problems. It not only supports text, but also images. I haven't had any problems with this application. It always starts and copy / paste just works, always.

I'd really like to see a stripped down version of Desktop Data Manager to be included in the default distribution.
