Bug Description

Currently, GTG proposes essentially two modes: the complete active task list, or the work view list, which only shows tasks with no dependency.

In future version, there might be more modes: searches, saved searches, etc. It would therefore maybe be interesting to consider the fact of improving the ui in relation with what's actually currently displayed in the task list.

There are several solution to this. In order to bootstrap the discussion however, I made a suggestion by using a GtkInfoBar that present some additional information about the current mode and the task that are displayed.

Please look at the branch, and comment!

I like it very much!

Thoughts:
Put it on bottom of window, because it will be similar to gnome-shell notification and task list won't shift from top.
Option for disabling this at all (there are always guys which complaining about distraction).
Also look at Ubuntu One in Nautilus, it may be minimized or detailed. For new users it should be detailed, but experienced users might want to have just tiny indication of the current mode.
Perhaps it would be better to take colours from current gtk theme, for example, tool-tip’s colours, however in some cases it might be ugly.

bzr branch lp:~bertrand-rousseau/gtg/test-add-infobar-in-taskview
cd test-add-infobar-in-taskview
scripts/debug.sh

What do you say? I like the idea of being able to get rid of it by an option on it. It could be another way how to teach user about GTG features.

Yes, I did

See my previous comment [1]

Yes, absolutely, that's why i like it. Seems like conversation:
App: “Hey, dude! something changed here! wanna know about it?”
User: “I guess...”
App: “In this mode you see <something-depends-on-current-mode>”
User: “Gotcha!”
App: “By the way, if you want to go back just click here.”

Brilliant!
However, we should remember other approaches of implementation this idea.
Key word is Microsoft — they show us great [2] examples of assistants which should help users to understand an application and interact with it.
And the consequence of these examples is it shouldn't be annoying (see my previous comment [1]).

[2] Great for learning how it shouldn't be, because many users actually hates those assistants.
