Yes project is still alive. I am not aware of any problems regarding libchamplain.

Problem is that I am limited in the time I have available to work on my many programs. GPX-Viewer will get updates, but no guarantee about when.

Can you give me more details about the problems? I understood there is aproblem with a libchamplain widget not showing a background and it crashes when switching to cycle map and zooming in.
This both feels more like a problem with libchamplain, when I have time I will investigate.
