It's not a licensing issue. AqBanking specifically allows linking to OpenSSL.. GnuCash does not link to OpenSSL, only to AqBanking.

This is the answer from the GnuCash developers.

And since the install is not an issue anymore, and HBCI is working in newer versions, I'm rejecting this bug.

Please reopen if it still is a problem.
