+1 not working for me either: Ubuntu 10.04 with all updates as of 30/4/2010
I have a NAS and store my music on it. It only does cifs/smb sharing. I want Rhythmbox to be able to access this share! Using fstab is not a workaround due to another Ubuntu bug (still not resolved after two years) whereby fstab does not dismount cleanly when using wireless connections (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/211631).
And why is the issue upstream in "gnomevfs"? Ubuntu does not use "gnomevfs" but "gvfs".
