Oh, actually this sounds like it might be related to USB or other kernel problems.
Next time the problem happens, reboot to recover the machine and then run this command to collect the log of the previous (frozen) boot:
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
and attach the file 'prevboot.txt' here.
