One thing that I should also mention - during testing, we should make sure that in the file .../resources/log4j.properties, we maintain the setting:

log4j.logger.mondrian.mdx=debug

Then all MDX expressions should be visible in the Tomcat log; and we should be looking for commonalities among the last MDX statements executed before the system runs out of memory.
