i'm not sure if there is an error log as i'm not the author of the software. I had no problems when i tested it on youtube-dl versions from 2012 onwards until the versions that came out in 2014.

I just downgraded to 2013.08.29-1 and didnt have any problems downloading a video. The video i just tested on was < https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAdYtnQK3-I > with a 'webm' video format.

An error might be occurring for that particular video because there wasnt a version in that format. In the interface if you click the 'show advanced' and set the 'video format' drop down to another format, it should work. If an error occurs, if you move your mouse over the error icon, a tooltip should popup which shows what the error was. I've had error occuring because of video requiring user authentication and when the video format wasnt available.
