I am also getting this even in the Hardy kernel; however, only my modifier keys ever get stuck down. Try doing anything productive with 'super' (or with 'shift', too, and firepaint!) held down..... it renders the desktop useless. I have to ctrl-alt-backspace to kill X; if I'm particularly unlucky, I'll have to alt-sysrq-k.

Note that I do run Compiz, as well as two instances of Folding@Home (see related bug here and on down the chain: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/177713). I'll try again some time with other combinations of {folding,not folding} and {compiz,metacity}.

Since I see many comments about people losing e-mails and other sorts of data due to this bug, I believe this bug should be marked as at least high priority.
