I can't seem to install XCFE, but the bug is also manifest in OpenBox,
albeit with a small difference: when resizing the window by dragging,
the actual main window resize is completed (in KDE, once the mouse
cursor detaches from the main window, the size doesn't change any
more).
However, the rest of the behaviour stays the same: gschem still freezes
its redraw of the main window until a mouse wheel zoom action takes
place (which only results in one redraw, but doesn't resolve the actual
problem) or one of the side/bottom window elements is hidden (which
resolves the problem until both are shown again and the window is
resized).
