Geary today doesn't handle connection errors very well. We have that ticketed here:

In your debug log, I'm seeing a number of "No address associated with hostname" errors. This typically indicates a DNS problem.

A couple of things to try to resolve this:
* Check /etc/hosts to see if there's any malformed entries.
* Switch to a different DNS server
* In Network Manager delete your connection and recreate it (this resets all the connection settings.)

I spotted this in your debug:

Connect failure: Error resolving '': No address associated with hostname

This is a known problem. Please go to System Settings -> Network -> Network proxy. If it's set to Manual and the fields are blank, then set it to None and try Geary again.

Does that help?
