We had this happen last night with gearmand 1.1.12. Was that fix that went in in 2013 rolled in by the time 1.1.12 was rolled? None of our workers could connect and the servers with gearmand on them were full of CLOSE_WAIT connections. We had to restart gearmand and wokers on all servers to get things going again.
