I'm not able to reproduce this -- I just went and liked about a dozen things on facebook, and they all worked quite responsively. The heart turns from light grey ("inactive") to dark grey ("active") near-immediately, and then the spinner goes for only 1 or 2 seconds, and then the like count is incremented reliably right when the spinner stops.

Is your internet connection ok? Seems like the problem might be timing out waiting for the response from facebook...
