Yes.
> when adding the repos make sure that you modify then to karmic and install

Did so and now suspend and resume works fine again. But well... I expected
this, as the karmic version has worked flawlessly in the past. There is some
sort of bug in the version in the lucid repo and I think is should be hunted
down...
