Not to say that the same manufactures might ship hardware not supported on Linux.

At least some governmental organizations, like the Ministry of Education, require that all the hardware to be bought by them must be Debian 4 compatible. However their benchmarks to test the quality of the hardware is done via Sysoft Sandra.

Ubuntu, save us! I've never seen a store with PCs running Ubuntu.
