I wrote some simple benchmarks. One tests raw javascript performance, and the other three test scrolling performance with different types of content.

So far the main difference between the Ubuntu Dapper build and the official mozilla.org build of Firefox 1.5 in terms of performance has to do with text rendering. The Ubuntu build takes almost 3 times as long to complete the text scrolling benchmark as the mozilla.org build on my computer, 31.4 seconds versus 11.9 seconds. In the other benchmarks they came out almost equal. They're both using the same profile, same font, same version, etc. All that differs AFAIK is how they were built.
