While I agree with David's comment 85, I note that on unix systems which don't
depend on the file extension, content type-guessing programs such as file(1) are
certainly allowed to use the filename in making a decision about what to report.
 On the other hand, those guessing programs ought to be able to get /dev/stdin
correct most of the time. The filename should only be used to resolve
ambiguities when it is available, and there is nothing wrong with asking the
user to confirm such ambiguity resolution, except (and this case is probably
rare) when it becomes an encumberance to the user being able to proceed at their
customary pace.

If you wanted to accommodate that, Christian, you might include a "Don't ask me
to confirm such guesses again" checkbox, but I wonder how useful overall that
would be.
