I have disabled all my plugins, and the problem still appears. So I tend to believe this is only FF-related.
Only remaining plugin I had was the webdevelopper, which a lot of other reporters had activated. But I switched it off 2 days ago and the problem still arises.
I'll try to think about always startint FF from the shell, so that I may get some debug info printed out on the terminal when the problem occurs
