To be frank, this is a small but impactful bug and the delay in responding to it (and the low priority given to it) is unacceptable. For all the talk of Mozilla's superiority to IE, and the superiority open- to closed-source software, it is unbelievable that a bug like this goes unfixed for so long. My advice: switch to Chrome - it's only in beta and it's already quicker and far more enjoyable to use. A browser whose address bar conks out and requires a restart is a waste of time.
