mslee - does bug 248345 describe your problem?

(further info on http://www.unika.com.cn/ - it pegs cpu at 25% on my small machine just idling - probably due to it's animated images - a seperate bug. Even better indication that it may be a bad test case due to that interference (plus the server delevery speed delays). copy the page to the PC and see if the slow speed problem still shows.

Do same with other pages that result in poor performace. Do they render slow if loaded from the PC (rather than the net)?
