Yes, this was a rather bad regression. For those with a high profile website it's probably useful to test their pages regularly with the latest nightlies from the stable branch:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/
If there are any regressions cry wolf with a bug report with the keyword "regression" and a "blocking 1.8.1.x?" request.
