I also have this problem, but only if I use the integrated GPU.
If I use the discrete GPU, this problem is not there.
I am not very sure about this statement, I'm in the process of
debugging also this, but one thing at a time :D

Actually, I'm going to create a new bug report for that, so that we
can watch the progress there, I'll let you know

Till the fixes are not in the official packages you have to keep my
PPA in order to get updates on new fixes.
As soon as these fixes go into the official packages I will delete the
unneeded packages and you can remove my PPA from your repositories
list.
The only relevant packages for this issue are the
Xserver-xorg-video-intel and fglrx* packages, yes
