Bug Description

In rdp session mouse cursor should like in windows, but in remmina 1.0 (ubuntu 12.04) it use default ubuntu mouse cursor everywhere.

It is little confusing, particularly in window resise, click link etc.

remmina version:
Architecture: i386
Version: 1.0.0-1ubuntu3

All ok in xfreerdp:
Architecture: i386
Source: freerdp
Version: 1.0.1-1ubuntu2

Known issue fixed upstream:

https://github.com/FreeRDP/Remmina/issues/100 (see comment #13)

Workaround:

Install PPA from https://code.launchpad.net/~freerdp-team/+archive/freerdp - this will trigger an error relating to remmina.desktop file - run `apt-get -f install` to fix that error. (see comment #16)

Yes i can confirm this issue.
Also this is not an issue in my Xubuntu 11.10 box.
Also mouse wheel Scrolling isn't working either.

I just realized that I run v. 0.9.99.1 which is the default at the moment in 12.04. Anyone know of a ppa with newer version I can test?

Seems Remmina is unaware of it's true version. Synaptic says 1.0.0-1ubuntu6, but Remminas own "About" says 0.9.99.1.

Unfortunately, this bug is happening only in Remmina. If I start a session in xfreerdp (from freerdp-x11 package) the cursor is changing well.

Also in ubuntu 12.10 remmina version 0.9.99.1, it always shows the same cursor in RDP.

Re comment #13; just tried building freerdp+remmina from git on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and can say that on my system that
- the mouse cursor now works (yay!), but unfortunately now
- the keyboard cursor isn't visible, and
- any attempt to transport sound over RDP ends in a segmentation fault

There's a PPA, https://code.launchpad.net/~freerdp-team/+archive/freerdp Note that remmina.desktop has moved between packages, so you might get a dpkg error on upgrade, just apt-get -f install to fix. Still has bug #1004197 (Opening new server opens to black the first time) though.

Idem here
The 2 PCs are 12.04.2, remmina (0.9.99.1 inside and 1.0.0.1-6ubuntu show in synaptic)
PC to laptop OK: remote cursor shows like a little round dot.
Laptop to PC KO: kills the remote vino server

I also have this bug on Quantal, is there and chance the first could be released in an Stable Release Update. This problem is quite annoying.

I have the same issue in raring too. I've tried freeRDP ppa but that didn't help, and it shows that the remmina version in ubuntu is newer than the one in the ppa, so it always installs the one provided by ubuntu repo.

Same issue in raring:

About says:
0.9.99.1

Is it still maintained? Is there a working alternative?

I've just been using xfreerdp (ppa:freerdp-team/freerdp) from the command line. Right now it's the only way to get reliable RDP sessions using Ubuntu.

Not sure if this bug is the same as wanting only a single cursor to appear in an RDP session - see http://askubuntu.com/questions/319203 and https://github.com/FreeRDP/Remmina/issues/214 - if it is, the workaround (using the FreeRDP PPA) doesn't work for me in 12.04.

I cannot see this behaviour anymore. Maybe in the lap time I learned I cannot use desktop effects at the server side (vino), so now I always log into the gnome-shell session with no-effects ( Gnome classic no-effects) because of this jurassic bug in vino.

I still see this bug in 14.10, with Remmina 1.0.0-6ubuntu1.
My problem is when using Qlikview, where the change in cursor shape is about the only chance to move and resize elements, so using it with Remmina is almost impossible...
