One of my campus network support staff contacted me hoping that this bug had a general solution released.

So what kind of additional testing do we need to do before this patch can be moved out of a PPA and into the main distribution?

(I suggested the network support staff try the above PPA on a 32-bit system since they'd thought they'd seen some wireless connectivity differences between 32 and 64 bit.)
