I tried the Karmic patch, then an upgrade to Lucid. DNS is fast when it works, but I often lose all DNS functionality for all applications for several minutes randomly. At startup a simple wget in shell will work fine, yet opening chrome/firefox (with multiple tabs) will block dns calls for a long time.
This fix is towards the right direction, but not complete to mitigate all DNS-issues by any means based on my usage (ZyXEL router).
