Absolutely, because if we're going to do this, and I mean any time in
the future, let's just turn tail and pack up right now. Because making
free copycats of proprietary crap in the world, where you can simply
literally copy (in copyright parlance "steal") the original for free
any time you want would in my humble opinion be a complete waste of
time. Libre software and open standards are all about preferring
freedom of choice to horribly broken one size fits all proprietary
solutions and they're meant to be free as in freedom, but not
necessarily free as in free beer. Accepting broken proprietary stuff
in a free system and doing everything to accommodate it's creators is
no different from going back to where you came from. Such user should
simply revert to whatever proprietary platform he used until now and
save everyone (including himself) lots of trouble.

Linus is my personal Jesus Christ and he's got that right. Like libre
software? Great! You don't? Who cares? I believe that most users of
libre software share a common characteristic of not being sheeple by
nature and that people using libre software are generally the ones
willing to get their hands dirty whenever there's a problem to be
solved rather than just sitting around while bitching and waiting for
someone else to save their sorry asses. The "success" and predominance
of proprietary platforms simply prove that people actually like being
tied up and locked down while maintaining their convenience and
illusion of freedom.

Well, that just sucks, doesn't it?
