That's because it is not guaranteed that the cover will HAVE a location in the filesystem. For example, when the cover is embedded in the file's tags, it is just loaded directly from the tags instead of being copied to somewhere on the filesystem. As a workaround for this, I suggest creating a temporary cover file in /tmp when the cover is requested and using that path instead.
