That's only valid if gvfs-fuse is in use, and is non-deal since then we have to pass everything through FUSE instead of just using GIO directly. Mutagen has inidicated they would consider a patch to support using arbitrary file-like objects, which would enable us to use GIO for everything, so I see no reason why we should settle for relying on gvfs-fuse.
However, this will work for an interim solution - just keep in mind that the remote folder will need to be mounted all the time when Exaile is open.
