Bug Description
System details:
Evergreen version 1.6.0
opensrf version 1.2.2
postgresql version 8.3
Linux Ubuntu Server 8.04
Problem description:
While creating a new item in the copy/volume editor of the staff client, if a duplicate barcode number is entered, the cataloger does not find out until the cataloger have been through the Edit Item Attributes screen. It would be better to know right away that the cataloger have tried to add a duplicate barcode.

ITEM_BARCODE_EXISTS
An item with the same barcode exists
Ideally, the duplicate detection should occur earlier and perhaps with a more graceful warning?
