We like to make sure the original author includes a signoff, indicating that the work is in accordance with the Developer's Certificate of Origin (see https://wiki.evergreen-ils.org/doku.php?id=contributing&s[]=dco#code_contribution for more details).
If you're on the same branch locally, `git commit --amend --signoff`, then force pushing your branch should do the trick.
