Noting that I see this behavior fixed on a community db with Bill's patch referencing https:/
When editing an existing copy, clicking "Save and Exit" does not close the Item Record tab as expected. Instead, it refreshes and displays a blank Item Record. The item is, in fact, updated, though. Manually refreshing the tab will show that the item was updated. However, the behavior should be that the item record tab automatically closes.
