If the form is stopped from submitting, please have an error message indicating item(s) couldn't be saved and give users the opportunity to correct the errors and re-save. The editor fails silently now and having another silent fail would not be helpful.

I am also not a fan of the "Apply" button, from the standpoint of time. With the work I personally do, it isn't an issue one way or the other; but, I can see where someone actively cataloging would not want to have to take time to apply each attribute they edit.
