Bug Description

EG 3.1

Web Client

Wishlist request - make it easier to batch edit more than 100 items at a time from Item Status screen.

1) add option to select all(from all pages) for batch editing, OR
2) add option to view / display more than 100 items at a time

Current bahaviour

Item Status -> Choose File to upload -> upload file with 300 items -> list is created

- There is no indication of how many items were loaded
- There is no indication of how many pages of items there are
- Using the Check box to select all only selects the items displayed on current page this makes editing more than 100 items a cumbersome process

Example
Item Status -> Set page controls to display 100 rows -> Choose File -> load file which contains 300 items -> list is created with 100 items per page -> page to end of list (3 pages) -> use checkbox to select all -> Actions -> Edit Items -> volume/copy editor opens with 100 barcodes listed -> make changes -> save & exit -> volume/copy tab is closed - >

back to original list (items do not show changes made) -> Click Previous page -> Actions Edit Items -> make changes -> save & exit -> volume/copy tab is closed - > back to original list (items do not show changes made) -> Click Previous page -> Actions Edit Items -> make changes -> save & exit -> volume/copy tab is closed -> back to original list (items do not show changes made) ->

Refresh tab -> Choose File -> reload file to confirm changes have been made.

This is made worse by this bug

https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1721109 - After editing an item in item status the screen does not refresh - you must reload the screen / reload the file in order to see the changes

Desired behavior

1) Add some indication of how many items were loaded

2) Ideally, we would like to be able to work with 300 line items at a time in the Item Status interface.

a) add option to select all(from all pages) for batch editing, OR
b) add option to view / display more than 100 items at a time

We would also hope to see the Item Status screen automatically refresh after changes are made in the Volume Editor.

Example
Item Status -> Set page controls to display 300 rows -> Choose File -> load file which contains 300 items -> list is created with all 300 items displayed -> use checkbox to select all -> Actions -> Edit Items -> volume/copy editor opens with 300 barcodes listed -> make changes -> save & exit -> volume/copy tab is closed - > original list is refreshed to show changes made

It seems to me that the correct way to fix this is to add batch importing into copy (or rather, *all*) buckets. As it is this sounds a lot like making the item status window (intended to be ephemeral; just a quick place to check on some things) into a pseudo-bucket interface already. buckets already have an All display option and you can have multiples with names vs having to re-load file(s) any time you navigate away.

I heartily second Jason's suggestion.

+1 Jason Boyer this is an excellent idea

It would be great if we could add an option to Upload File to Buckets.

For Copy Buckets

Ideally the Upload File button would be a drop down with two options

1) Upload file to New Bucket
Click Upload file to New Bucket -> choose file -> new bucket window appears -> enter name / description -> file is loaded in Bucket view with all items automatically added to the bucket

2) Upload file to Pending copies
Click Upload file to Pending copies -> choose file -> items are loaded into the pending copies screen

+1 for Jason's idea and +1 for Christine's idea to add a way to upload a file directly into a bucket.

I think that is probably why most of us use the batch edit and other functions in item status -- you can upload a file and then save a step by doing edits there rather than taking the time to add to a bucket.

Noting that bug 1746566 adds code for larger view options in Item Status, among other places. It's been merged for 3.2 and I've added a comment requesting a backport for 3.0 and 3.1.
