Comment 29 for bug 1704396

I applied two patches to our system with extra logging for this bug:

1. Mike's "Error printing XMPP stanza to socket" patch above, and
2. the patch attached below, which adds log messages for certain error conditions in parts of AppSession.pm related to Mike's comment #26 above.

Since then, we've had several more instances of searches showing no results due to timeout, following the same pattern above. Unfortunately I haven't seen any extra log messages either from Mike's patch or mine. Does the negative result help to narrow down the cause?
