I saw this issue on a MassLNC VM that has:

* Ubuntu Trusty
* A fairly recent master (no older than a week)
* Postgres 9.3.10
* Perl 5.18.2

I checked some of our production systems, running Evergreen 2.8.4 and 2.9.1 respectively. Neither system showed the sorting problem. I don't know what Postgres or Perl versions are running on those servers, but it seems to point to something other than Evergreen causing the problem.
