While I slightly prefer items over copies, it doesn't matter which term as long as it is consistently applied across all menus in Evergreen. Item is used in other menus and places -- the circ menu uses item and never copy, the Actions for Selected Items menu in Item status uses item rather than copy (even referring to item bucket rather than copy bucket), patron records have an Items out tab and an Actions for Selected Items menu. Then we have copy buckets, copy id, copy location, and copy number. I probably have missed some since I didn't do an exhaustive search.

Which ever term is picked, all labels in all visible menus referring to copy/item should use the same term.

Another inconsistent usage is Document/Database ID. At one point, it was also called record ID but I don't see that usage anywhere. I actually prefer the record ID term since it seems more consistent with naming for other IDs -- patron, copy, circulation, hold, etc.

There is a slight distinction between Call number and volume -- probably dating back to the time when we entered the volume designations in separate subfields from the |a class and |b item number (the call number) in 050 and 090. In this context, the call number is 814.5 Web and volume would be 814.5 Web V.1, pt. 5, sect. 6. I see them as separate, but similar concepts.
