Yes, I can definitely see the utility of including the relator information in the links if subfield e were used across the board with our MARC records. However, we've just started seeing these records arrive with RDA. We therefore wouldn't be able to pull up all those Harry Potter movies when clicking on the Watson, Emma (actor) link because her entry doesn't have a subfield e on those older MARC records.

I was also looking at the way we previously handled author information on the search results page. We previously didn't indicate what the relationship was on the search results page, though we always have on the record details page. I was thinking that removing this information would make it consistent with what we were already doing.

The hierarchical view might be a better approach, but I do think there will still be some confusion as to why clicking the full Watson, Emma (actor) doesn't bring up all of her previous movies in which she acted.

I know this all comes down to a data issue, but I think a lot of sites are likely to have this issue as we transition to RDA.
