I've read through the patch, and just eyeballing it the code looks both good and clever.

One issue, though. You've got a bunch of 2.8.3-specific path changes, like this: /xul/rel_2_8_3/server/ ... I think if you change those back to /xul/server/ things will be good for heavy testing. Thanks!
