FYI, one of our libraries runs things on Linux and has far fewer problems. The following is from Rob Heller

We run CentOS 5 (the GPL/Free version of RedHat Enterprise
Linux) on all but one of our machines (we have one token XP box for patrons who might need to run MS-Windows software), including *both* of the staff client machines (one on the circ desk and one in the office [for cataloging, etc.]). We run the staff client with the *native* xulrunner (10.0.12) under Linux. No crashes ("Linux: It Just Plain Works")! I am not sure about memory leaks, but I have collected detailed stats. The machines are diskless P4s (refurbished Samba small form factor boxes we got cheap from Geeks.com). The machines have 2gig of RAM (not LTSP, these are full fledged workstations with NFS mounted file systems). Our *main* problem is the slow internet connection causes a problem for the people doing cataloging, but circulation does have slowness problems.
