Bug Description

Initial messages of a conversation are not being displayed in the window. They show up in the log, but not in the window. Happens with all protocols. This is a pretty annoying bug. It's similar to bug #475615 but as that's so old I thought a new bug would be applicable.

Yes. Login and then have someone message you. A window will pop up (with no text) however if you go to the log viewer you can see the message was indeed received. Just never displayed.

Wondering if this is really an upstream bug, since I use various notification extensions in Gnome3 that do not exibit this behavior. Only when opening new messages from the messaging menu does this happen and yes it is super annoying.
