I just found my own answer and it works.

replaced all $HOME/ with /home/timo/

added the missing XDG_DESKTOP_DIR=/home/timo/

Firefor did not create the folder. Just make sure you have the line for the desktop present (it wasn't there at all after super-clean-install). Obviously replace "timo" with your own username.
