Thanks for taking some time to report your experience with terminal-app.

What you reported is the proper behaviour of the terminal, as per platform specifications.

By default, the system image is mounted in read-only mode.
Running apt-get on the device is discouraged and may break the support for OTA updates.

You can unlock write permission by installing TweakGeek from the OpenStore:
https://open.uappexplorer.com/app/tweakgeek.mzanetti

Or by following the steps from:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/380258/how-to-change-the-ubuntu-installation-to-read-write-mode-on-a-mobile-device

Anyway, if something goes wrong during an OTA update, your device may become unbootable and you may need to reflash the firmware.

I'm going to mark this report as Invalid for "dropping-letters" since the report has been filed against the wrong project.
I'm going to mark this report as Invalid for "ubuntu-terminal-app" since the uncomfortable experience you had depends on the design of the platform, and not on a bug of the terminal.

Thanks again,
Have a great day!
