Bug Description
Using compiz's snap plugin, windows will snap approximately at the triple height of Docky's panel mode.
This has been addressed in Gnome Do first, see bug 370938 which is a duplicate of bug 318471. Since these bugs yet are solely Do's and not Docky's, I filed a new one. If that's not the correct way to do it, please close this and mark it as a duplicate. :-)

With sawfish, when windows are maximised, the edge of the window stops about three extra docky-widths away from docky. I assume this is a related bug?
