Gnome panel hides while selecting window

Bug Description
Dockbarx 0.21.4
When the auto-hide function for the panel is active and I'm selecting a window, the panel suddenly hides and I'm only left with the window selection box for that group.
I've attached a screenshot to make it clear.
Apparently this bug also affects dockbar vanilla

This is indeed a bit irritating behavior. I'm not sure know if anything can be done about it, though. Every applet that opens windows behaves like this, even standard ones like the clock applet and the volume control. Maybe this should be made a feature request for gnome-panel instead?
