Diodon uses Ayantana Indicators https://ayatanaindicators.github.io/ which seems Cosmic is not supporting fully. It might be a good idea to ask whether this is supported at all in Cosmic.

There are no plans to implement desktop specific extensions within Diodon if a DE is not supporting Ayantana indicators.
