lowriter -nologo

click View -> Toolbars (notice Reset is greyed out) -> check Drawing -> View -> Toolbars and Reset should be active.

4) What happens instead is Reset is greyed out.

Original Report Comments:
As a workaround, going to Tools > Customize > Toolbars > Reset has the intended
effect.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04
Package: libreoffice (not installed)
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2
Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64
Architecture: amd64
Date: Tue Apr 26 18:49:14 2011
InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Alpha amd64 (20110315)
ProcEnviron:
 LANGUAGE=en_US:en
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: libreoffice
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

After using LibreOffice for a while, most users end up with different placement for its toolbars. View > Toolbars > Reset would imply such menu option resets the toolbars placement and customization, but it's always greyed out - I tried this only in Writer and Impress.

As a workaround, going to Tools > Customize > Toolbars > Reset has the intended effect.

I tested this in Ubuntu Natty (11.04). Filed in Ubuntu here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/771542

Changed in df-libreoffice:
importance: Unknown → Medium
status: Unknown → Confirmed

No idea how to test that systematically, but effect seems to be NOT reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.3.2 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:202 / tag 3.3.2.2)]".

for my steps to get it active please see attached demo

Fabián Rodríguez, I was unable to reproduce your workaround to reset the toolbars via clicking Tools -> Customize... -> Toolbars tab -> Reset button -> Yes button -> OK button

Could you please repost a more detailed workaround?

@Christopher M. Penalver
To be honest: your screencast without any comments did not tell me anything, but it was a motive for me to recheck my results.

I found out that my demo2 still contains a distorting mistake (I wrote "Drawing Toolbar" Instead of "Drawing Object Prperties", so I will create a new ans more simple one.

The new demo is concerning an other Toolbar, because I was not able to reproduce my results with D O P Toolbar.

The main result is that there really seems to be a problem, but not with the Reset Item, but with the behavior of select / unselect toolbars.

Created attachment 46623
New demo, see Comment 7. There also was a mistake in second demo

Possibly a sideeffect of:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/709778
 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36684
?

Could you recheck if this is still an issue with the fix applied?

Björn Michaelsen, as per comment #6 this was reproduced in Natty LO proposed.

But is it gone in the 3.4 branch?

Solved as WORKSFORME upstream as it cannot be reproduced with the current 3.4.0 rc.

Should be fixed in 3.4.x series.

status: Triaged → Incomplete

Please test and reopen if still an issue on >=3.4.x

Just tested this again with 3.5.0 - same problem.

1- Move toolbars around, hide/show some buttons
2- Go to View > Toolbars > Reset, option is greyed out

Will test further in 12.04 LTS

Fabián Rodríguez, given the discussion is ongoing upstream (and the way to address this is ongoing, and needing to come from upstream), I'm marking this Won't Fix so the discussion may continue.
