Just ran into this. (Password-protected PPT, opens fine on PPT 2003 SP3 under XP SP3, fails in OpenOffice 4 on OS X.)
Just added a vote to this bug. To me this is pretty fundamental -- much closer to "broken essential functionality" than "enhancement."
