Mine is also broken.
$ uname -a
Linux wt-demo 3.8.0-23-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 29 20:22:58 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
This is a 1080P model that came with 12.04 and was upgraded to 13.04. The brightness can be changed when in grub, but it stops working once I am in LInux. I am running BIOS A08. Would you want me to post the apport thing like the earlier poster did?
